Alchemist's Garden

The goal of this project was to work in a group to create a functioning prototype for the game. This would include just making the first level, or a small selection of items that would eventually be in the game. My job, as a designer in the group, was to be a part of the creation of the User Interface (UI) and the branding. The brief of the project was to create a game design concept for a computer game aimed at 11-15 year old school children to communicate the need for energy and sufficiency in relation to Sustainable Development Goal 7. To fulfil this requirement, we decided to make a crafting and farming game, with the highlight being on having to crow your own materials, which would fulfil the requirement of it being educational.

The theme of our game would reside in a fantasy world where you would play as an alchemist growing plants to make potions and sell them at the market. We named the game 'Alchemist's Garden' to highlight the fact that you play as an alchemist and that it's a farming game, which were the two elements we wanted to highlight.
During the creation of our idea, we had been informed that our game would need a stronger link to the brief, so we amended the idea so that the alchemist would be growing endangered flowers to help increase their numbers.

When we split up the tasks between all the designers, I was given the jobs to make the logo, and also to make the designs for six flowers to use in the inventory and UI of the game, below you'll be able to see how I developed each one.
