Snowdrop

Snowdrops are known to be signifiers of the coming of spring through their appearance, this is likely due to them blooming toward beginning of spring. Due to the name, they are heavily associated and seen with snow, though this is usually when the snow is disappearing. They're also associated with snow due to their white colour scheme, and the drop in the name is likely in reference to the teardrop shape of the petals, so these were an important feature of the flower.

To start with, I just created a base image of the snowdrop. I did make the petals slightly more blue to reinforce the snow theme, as well as being sure to make the petals look like tear drops, to relate back to the name.

I felt as though the previous design looked fairly plain, so I added some more shades of green and toned the plant a little more so it looked a lot better and a lot more detailed.

After I was happy with the flower itself, I added some snowflakes to the design, as the flower itself is heavily associated with snow and snowfall. I tried to create a large variety of unique snowflake designs, as they are known for all being different, however I did copy some of the designs at different angles to fill out the page.

After the main snowflakes were in the picture, I added a lot of dots to act as minor snowflakes to fill in the background, as adding the small snowflakes both made the larger snowflakes stand out more, as well as making sure they didn't look out of place. When putting these smaller snowflakes in, I did them in a variety of colours matching the colours I had already used on the petals.

After the backing snowflakes were so colourful, I then changed the colours of the large snowflakes so there was a lot more variety and, with that, my design was done.
